Message from the President

Thank you to all the members who completed the recent "Member Survey" from Golf Business Advisory Services  (GBAS).  It was a very detailed and extensive survey which took a long time to complete.  We are analysing the results carefully to make the right decisions for the club's future.  We had 567 members complete the survey with a 49% response rate.

GBAS have finished their review of our golf operations and are compiling reports with recommendations for the Board and Management from the survey.  These results will be made public for the golfing members later this month.

We have invited Jeff Blunden from GBAS back to Mollymook to present his findings directly to the members in June.  We will let everyone know when this date is confirmed.

Dave Hassall
President

April Golf Summary...

April had perfect golfing weather with 30 days of golf competitions.

There was more good scoring with 25 players scoring 40 points or better in competitions.  43 points was the best score for the month (and a very popular one) with Christian King, Ashton Brown, Darryl Bozicevic and Ed De Marco all scoring 43 points.  Greg Holmes shot 67 nett in the medal round which is worth a mention.

Special mention to long standing member and Club Patron, John Coburn who had another Hole-In-One, on the 28th of April on the 17th Hole.  Well done John, an impressive effort for someone about to celebrate their 80th birthday in a couple of months.

Vets Club Championships

Congratulations to Shaun Dickson on winning the Vets Club Championships for the third year in a row.  Shaun had a 36 hole total of 153 and won by 5 shots from past champion, Paul O'Regan.

Next year, Shaun will be trying to equal Paul's record of winning the event 4 years in a row.

Many members aren't aware that Shaun was a professional big wave surfer and this is actually him in this photo (taken a few years ago)...

Mollymook Women's Open

A huge field of 157 competitors played in this year's Mollymook Women's Open event.   The weather turned ugly in the second round but the field battled through.

Local member and tournament favourite, Kelsey Bennett, shot a 3 under par 70 in the first round to lead by 7.  Kelsey then shot a 1 under par 72 in the wet conditions for an impressive 4 under total of 142 to win by 15 shots from Ashleigh Arnold from Bonnie Doon.

Well done to local members, Ruth Robson who took out the Division 1 nett and to Pauline Wilson who took out Division 2 gross.

Women's Open Foursomes

The unbackable favourites of Kelsey Bennett and Jane Wall cruised to victory in the Women's Foursomes Championship.  Off a team handicap of +1, 16 shots lower than the nearest competitors, they blew the field away eventually winning by 20 shots with a 4 over par 77 in terrible conditions.

The field of 116 reduced to 52 starters on the day with heavy showers persisting throughout the day.  At one point, play had to be abandoned when the greens went under water.  When play recommenced, only 15 pairs managed to finish the round and everyone should be congratulated for finishing.

Women's Pennant Season

The women's pennants is underway and our Division 1 team has had one win and one loss and are currently in 3rd position on the table.

In the Open Division, both of our teams are travelling well with two wins after 4 rounds and are just off the pace sitting in 3rd and 5th position on the table.

Good luck to all players for the remainder of the season.

Beachside Course Upgrade

As mentioned is last month's e-News, we have been working behind the scenes and finalising plans to upgrade the Beachside Course.  We are currently working our way through the approval process with council and should be able to provide members with an update within the next couple of weeks.

Good golfing,
