CLUB NEWS

Thursday 1 July 2021

Dear Proshop Proshop,

Welcome to the July 21' edition of Mollymook Golf Club e-News.

We are currently working our way through another difficult period of uncertainty due to Covid but on the bright side we live in a great area and are doing better than most at the moment.  This current school holiday period has been thrown into disarray with travel restrictions and lock downs however golf continues to remain the most popular choice of exercise.

Due to current restrictions, we've had to postpone the Titleist Fitting Day that was scheduled for tomorrow and this has been rebooked for Friday 6th August (8.00am - 1.00pm) with bookings compulsory through Jono at Hilltop.  We have also postponed the Mollymook Junior Open scheduled for this Sunday 4th July, this event usually attracts Juniors from all over Sydney who are currently in lockdown and unable to travel.  We will advise when we secure a new date that fits in with the Golf NSW Junior schedule.

We will continue to update members on any major government changes that will affect our club.  If you haven't played yet this week (since Sunday 27th June), face masks must be worn when entering the golf shop and inside clubhouse areas at all times (including staff) and we have reverted back to 1 per 4 square metres so clubhouse capacity numbers have been reduced back to just 64 inside at Hilltop and 340 at Beachside.  Drinking while standing has also been prohibited again so you must be seated while drinking in the clubhouses.  Unfortunately, if all the seats are taken, you will not be served and asked politely to leave.

Once again, please keep in mind that our staff do not make these rules however they do have to enforce them as part of their job.

June Golf Summary...

We had very little rain in June totalling just 66mm for the month with no real impact on any events.

There were 5,333 golf rounds played in June with 3,223 rounds at Hilltop and 2,110 at Beachside.  This included 2,358 competition rounds at Hilltop and 341 comp rounds at Beachside.

The course has been playing longer with the wintery conditions and only 28 players out of 2,358 rounds comp rounds at Hilltop scored 40 points or better (or just over 1%).

Some highlights for the month include Terry Parkes who "top scored" with 44 points while Geoff Farrow and Keith Hughes scored 43.  Colin Green had +6 in the Par event while Margaret Lowes, Jane Rutkin and Keith Harvey shot 42 points.  It is also worth noting young 15 year old Sienna Clarke, who shot 41 points playing off 6 handicap from the White tees.  Great golf Sienna!

Membership Presentation postponed to 12th July

This Presentation has been challenging to host with travel restrictions making it difficult for the presenter to make it to Mollymook and back to Melbourne however we are pleased to confirm the new date of Monday 12th July at 5.30pm in the Beachside Function Room (pending Covid restrictions).  We are unsure what restrictions on seating (currently 80 maximum) will be place at that time so please register your interest to attend this presentation at management@mollymookgolf.com.au

Jeff Blunden will present his findings to the members followed by a "Q&A Session".  His presentation will also be made available online to members after his visit.

2021 Men's Mollymook Open - 13th to 15th August

The Men's Mollymook Open is on the 14th & 15th August 2021 (pending Covid restrictions at that time) with the 4Ball event on Friday 13th August.  The Entry Forms have been released today so please see the links below for the Entry Form and also the Conditions of Play.  We are expecting a huge field and there will by a ballot by highest handicap should entries exceed 180 players.

New Applications for Beachside Golf Membership

Please note the club will not be accepting any new Golf Membership Applications for the Beachside Course from today (1st July 2021) due to the major renovations commencing at Beachside from the 1st August.  We will reopen for new applications after the renovations are complete.

Good golfing in July and given the current circumstances, "STAY SAFE"!
