Dear Proshop Proshop,

Welcome to the final edition of Mollymook Golf Club e-News for 2020 and what a year it has been!  I'm sure everyone is looking forward to 2021.  

Congratulations to all the major event winners throughout the year.  Many events were cancelled or postponed but we completed our major championship events (excluding the Mollymook Opens).  There are still a few match play events continuing which will be completed early in the new year.  Please see below for a more detailed list of annual winners.

The course continues to be presented in great condition considering it has had the most traffic ever over the last few months.  We are currently setting new records on a daily basis for the amount of rounds being played at both Hilltop and Beachside.

Covid-19 continues to lurk in the background so all members need to take extra care if you are travelling away from home.  Please visit the NSW Government website for daily updates. 

From tomorrow, all golfers (including members) must download the Service NSW App and scan the "Covid Safe Check-In" QR Code when entering the golf shops or clubhouses.  Please see below for more information.

Message from the President

2020 has been a year or uncertainty and change but I would like to thank all members for your understanding and continued support.  It has been a very challenging year for the Board, Management and all our staff who have had to implement a lot of new rules and regulations throughout the year with some changing on a daily or weekly basis.

I would like to personally thank all our "front line" staff at the golf shop, bar, restaurant and reception areas who have had to deal "face to face" with people regarding these changes.  Some staff members have had to deal with abuse from members which has been very disappointing.

The course continues to look great and the club is now in a very strong financial position which continues to grow from strength to strength.

Our Hilltop course now features in all the Top 100 ranking lists and was recently voted number 3 in Australia by the public in "Australia's Top 50 Favourite Courses".  Congratulations to the management and staff on this huge achievement.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and I look forward to seeing you in 2021.

December Golf Recap...

December has been another very busy month for golf with many full tee sheets.  We only had one day (16th) heavily impacted by wet weather this month.

40 points or better was scored just 24 times this month so the greens must be playing quicker.  Congratulations to Steve McCrorey who "top scored" for the month with an amazing 47 points in an open single stableford event while Edward Madden, Declan Mulvaney and Bruce George shot 43 points.  Marie Wakely had the best score for the women with 40 points while Carolyn Mulvey shot 39 points.  Well done to everyone for these great scores.

John Croker returned from Darwin with some "hot scores" recently shooting 6 under par, 66 on the 21st, then 5 under 67 on the 23rd and another 6 under par 66 on the 27th December.  Congratulations on these great scores.

Special mention to Jye Halls who recently finished 3rd in the NSW Junior Championship at Mt Broughton and then went on to WIN the Adidas Junior 6's Invitational National Final at Newcastle Golf Club.  Jye finished tied 1st after 3 rounds of stroke play and then won both the semi-final and final match play matches.  This win has earnt Jye an equipment sponsorship and also special exemption into some Australian PGA Tour events where he will be competing against Australia's leading professional.  Jye and his dad, Chris start travelling for tournaments on the 2nd January and we wish them all the best.

Congratulations to our Superintendent Mark Pullinger, better known as "Runner Up", who had a "Hole In One" on the 12th Hole today, a great way to end the year.

"Covid Safe Check-In"

From the 1st January 2021, ALL members must check in via the Service NSW App and scanning the QR code upon entry.  This includes if you are just playing golf.  You will need to download the Service NSW App PRIOR to entering the golf shop or clubhouse.  Please follow the link below to download via the "App Store" or in "Google Play".

1. Hold your smart phone camera up to the QR code which can be found on posters at entrance points. Simply hover the camera over the code as if you were going to take a photo of it. 

2. Click the link that pops up on your screen and follow the prompts until you are checked in with the Service NSW app. 

3. Proceed to the Golf Shop counter or Reception Area to show your phone confirmation to the golf or reception staff. 

4. Members, guests and visitors will be required to show proof age and address. 

5. Don't forget to check-out when you leave, which you can do from within the app.

Members Bringing Their Own Alcohol On Course

We have recently had situations where members have been seen bringing their own alcohol onto the course which makes it impossible for the staff to carry out their Responsible Service of Alcohol duties.

You CANNOT bring your own alcohol onto Mollymook Golf Club property as it is a licensed premise.

From the 1st January 2021, any member seen bringing their own alcohol onto the courses will be cited by the Board and may face suspension of their membership.  All the staff have been instructed to strictly monitor this situation which has recently escalated.

You will be given an infringement notice from the staff for this offence and the matter will then be handed over to the Board.

Please keep in mind, the staff are only doing their job and any abuse towards staff will only inflame the situation.

I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and take this opportunity to thank all the golf staff (both on and off the course) for doing a great job under very difficult circumstances in 2020.  Let's hope 2021 brings us more happiness and good golf!
