Dear Proshop Proshop, Welcome to the July 2025 e-newsletter. We finally had a solid dry spell last month with just 26mm of rain in total for June and most of that came on the 13th June. Having said that, the weather has now gone totally pear shaped and we've had over 250mm in the last 36 hours. We were closed yesterday, today and will be again tomorrow. We may also be closed Friday as we need some sort of "dry out" period before we can reopen. If you are a cart driver, I would start making other plans for this weekend as we are no chance of getting carts back on course by the weekend. We managed to finally get some course maintenance projects completed last month with the fine weather including a new safety fence along the 16th tees, a renovated bridge on the 17th hole, a new cart path on the 17th from the bridge to the back of the 2nd tee along with a new garden area to the right of the 17th green. The course was looking great for this time of year however the course maintenance team will go back in to "damage control" again after this wet weather event finishes. We had a lot of positive feedback about holes 6A & 6B which were in play for a couple of weeks while the work on the 17th hole was being completed. We now have the ability to take any hole out of play, at any time for maintenance work. June saw a few important golf events played including the Mixed 4BBB Championships, the Mollymook Junior Open, Masters Pennants and a couple of Vets Interclub events. It was the first month in some time where we didn't have to postpone any events to later in the year. A "Slow Play" repeat message.. Please keep up with the group in front of you. All it takes is several groups to fall a minute or two behind the 8 minute interval between each group and this can be enough to prevent the last groups finishing in daylight. Thankfully the days are now getting longer again but all it takes is 10 groups out of the whole field to be just teeing off the 18th tee when the group in front is already on the green and that changes a 4 hour 15 minute round to over 5 hours making it difficult for the last groups to finish. A good tip to improve the pace of play is... as soon as the first two golfers putt out on the green, they head straight to the next tee and tee off if the fairway is vacant. Just this small change makes a big difference. Also please mark, clean and take your preferred lie while other people are hitting. Don't wait until it is your turn to play as this can add several minutes to your group's pace of play throughout the day. A reminder about our Slow Play Policy... Pace of Play Policy (September 2023)
- Should your group fall more than one hole
behind, your group will receive a warning for slow play.
- Should your position in the field not improve after the
warning, each player will receive a two shot penalty.
- This will be implemented by golf staff monitoring
play during or at the end of your round should your
group finish 15 minutes or more behind the group in front of
you (based on rounds taking over 4 hours).
Every group should be able to keep up with the
group in front. We've had several players comment "we are keeping
ahead of the group behind us!". Your position in the field is to
keep up with the group in front of you, not stay ahead of the group behind you. You may receive a SLOW PLAY message via the MiScore App during your round. Please ensure you are scoring after each hole which assists the staff in monitoring the pace of play. |
